Dayka: “I knew as soon as I saw it, I knew what I wanted to do–it was just a matter of making the specific material selections. I love a classic Wingback chair and from all of my experience vintage shopping, I know that a Wingback settee is not easy to find! The original fabric was in awful condition (cushions were totally torn underneath), and I knew the skirt needed to go ASAP to create a clean-lined look. I originally purchased an Ikat fabric to recover the settee but changed my mind and decided on a textured, solid Ebony cotton with brushed nickel nailhead trim to highlight the details.”
Lons_Designs: The nail head trim is stunning. How long did it take you to add those accents?
Dayka: “Thank you, and you know, I couldn’t tell you because I had my upholsterer apply it! I do all of my own furniture refinishing and some of my own re-upholstery, but I’ve learned to focus my time on the things that I personally need to do and outsource when possible. I can’t imagine applying all of those nailheads one by one, but 2-3 hours is a good guess.”
Lons_Designs: I can’t thank you enough for stopping by our blog and allowing us to showcase your work. Is there anything else you’d like us to share with our readers?
Dayka: “My new website should (hopefully) be launching in a few weeks with updated portfolio pics & information! In the meantime, you can always find me pinning my favorite images on Pinterest, sharing my latest updates on Facebook, and of course on my daily style blog, Dayka Robinson Desgins. Thanks for having me!”
